Many companies are becoming increasingly concerned with the overall wellbeing of their employees—both when they’re in the office, and when they aren’t. Companies will host things like yoga classes during lunch or nutrition seminars after-hours. They look more for ways to enhance the overall lives of their staff members.

When your boss gives you a new mandate, ask her to write it down. Ask her to be as specific as possible. Even if this aggravates her a little bit, you can assure her, “I just want to make sure you are 100 percent satisfied and there is no way for me to possibly misunderstand these instructions.” And then get her to put it in writing.

Be aware of your physical distance. This, again, could be a good time to ask yourself, “Would I do this to a man?” In other words, would you put your hand on a male colleague’s hand when saying something to him?
