Today, we salute the pink and green. The pearls. The Ivies. The power. For the AKAs Founders Day is more than a celebration, it’s a gentle reminder. Alpha Kappa Alpha didn’t just make history; they continue making it.

Many times, especially at HBCU’s, the Deltas are the littest sorority on the yard. They are also oftentimes the most visible and while the joke from other sororities is that they have such huge lines. The tea is that the girlies are eager to take the trip to Delta Land.

This year, I beam with pride knowing I’m walking in the footsteps of so many beautiful, brilliant, women who are great and committed to energizing Greater for women, girls and the world. Below you’ll find a few of our powerhouse Sorors who have influenced culture, provoked change and entertained and enlightened the world.

During the seminar titled “Pathways to Soar: Unlocking Impactful Leadership,” held in Anaheim, California, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. welcomed four powerhouse women as honorary members: Olympic track star Gabby Thomas, and supermodel trailblazer Beverly Johnson, CNN anchor and legal analyst Laura Coates, and former White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. 

On July 9, during Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.’s 57th National Convention, eight extraordinary women were proudly welcomed into the 2025 Honorary Member class of the historically Black Sorority.

The VH1 show was supposed to be an opportunity for Banks, but not only was it canceled, but she also was told she was expelled from DST. She's now suing.
