The news comes less than a month after the Omicron variant, a mutation of the COVID-19 virus, was reported to the World Health organization and classified as a Variant of Concern.
The big announcement comes as the FDA prepares to authorize booster shots for both Moderna and Johnson & Johnson on Oct. 20.
