Keyboard warriors—who obviously have nothing but flawless relationship experiences—shame women for staying after infidelity, and it’s honestly so tired.
There was no video that Derrick Jaxn or his wife could’ve put out that would have made the situation any better. He made an entire career out of calling out people for the same sin he committed and if there’s one thing the internet loves, it’s an Instagram celebrity eating crow.
When it comes to LGBTQ allyship, no one is looking for Maino’s expertise. However, the mocking and taunting made it seems as though there was something wrong with Mister Cee, that his lifestyle was a joke, and those kinds of reactions are the reason so many remain closeted and keep their sexual identity to themselves.
The merit of Tyler Perry’s work, and conversations regarding his on-screen representations of Black women, will always be up for debate. Entertainment is arbitrary after all. However, with the term ally being thrown around so leisurely, it's nice to see that he's been an actual ally for Black women in real life.
If the powers that be over at Buckingham Palace are not ashamed to malign Meghan Markle so publicly, painting the picture of her being a possible "bully" ahead of her Oprah interview, then I have to wonder what her life was like behind closed doors.
