Lower Rents Spark Mad. Ave. Revival
(Crain’s) — This fall, Soigné Kothari will bring a little bit of Bombay to the Big Apple, opening her first-ever store at 717 Madison Ave. Her store, Soigné K, will feature high-end fashion from Indian designers. She targeted Madison Avenue for her shop because of its undisputed status as the city’s most luxurious shopping corridor—and because its rents have fallen far enough to be affordable. “We were waiting for the right vacancy,” she says of her new 3,600-square-foot, bilevel space. “I got my dream location.”
