Right from her America’s Next Top Model days, YaYa’s hair became a source of inspiration for many naturals. Her ability to make fashion statements with her hair quickly made her a household name in the natural hair community. From updos, braid outs and afros to head wraps, braids and straight hair, YaYa has done it all in hair fashion.
Let’s take a look at some of the styles we chose to highlight…
Hair swept back and pinned up with the perfect pompadour height for her face, YaYa exudes grace and elegance with this evening look. Her waves and curls accent her slicked back hair, bringing out her stylish personality we love so much!
Straying away from the traditional “evening updo”, YaYa opts for a puff with tamed bangs. It’s a no-brainer to go for statement hair when you have neutral make up, minimal jewelry and a black dress—something’s gotta pop right?
At the 40th NAACP Image Awards, YaYa showed them how simple and classy is done. Her hair brought just enough ‘tude to her overall styling without being under or overstated—a win in my book!
Big, bold and fearless! The blown out hair, leather dress and one earring all bring out Ms. YaYa’s wild rocker edge. Her side-part is perfect for this look since it’s all about deviating from balance. Who said imbalance couldn’t be a good thing?
Here we get a more playful vibe from YaYa’s “messy” updo, which was more than likely the result of a braid/twist-out. The crimps liven up her face without stealing from her gorgeous bone structure—statement hair should never be overwhelming.
Judging from many of the photos I came across, YaYa definitely has a thing for side swept looks, but who cares? It works!
This is one we aren’t used to, but I think it works. Is it my favorite look on her? Nope. She blends in with the rest of Hollywood with straight hair, and since we were introduced to her in her natural state, it may seem a bit out of her element. There’s nothing wrong with switching it up though; do you YaYa!
What’s your favorite look on this hair fashionista?
