As an individual with locs, I know how versatile they can be, but I also know at times, it can feel like you’ve done everything you can think of and execute with them. And when you feel like you really want a change-up, the desire grows to go ahead and chop your locks off. Claire Sulmers, the lovely editor of FashionBombDaily.com, recently shared her big chop experience, swapping out her signature locs for a blond bobbed wig.

And while most people loved it, I noticed some telling her that she could have kept her locs and still worn wigs. But how?

Everyday women have been braiding their locs up, circling them around their heads or finding other neat tricks to tuck their hair away so that it can be hidden under a wig. But what I found after doing some research via YouTube, is that you don’t have to just rely on big curly wigs to hide the lumps and bumps of your locs. Plenty of women are switching it up and doing sleek long wigs, blunt bobs, asymmetrical cuts and braids over their hair. It’s an option if you want a temporary reprieve from your locs, but still want to keep and cultivate them.
