How Yvonne Orji Celebrated Nigerian Independence Day

October 1 is a very important day in the life of Nigerians because it’s Nigerian Independence Day. Some celebrate with parades (the one in NYC is Saturday, October 7), parties, by dressing their children up in traditional wear, or just enjoying one of the many dishes that defines the culture (jollof rice, egusi soup, efo, dodo gizzard, pounded yam, chin chin, moin moin, puff puff and so on and so forth). But many celebrated Nigerian Independence Day by just taking to social media to pay homage to the country, and that includes a lot of Nigerian-American, British-Nigerian and just straight up Nigerian celebrities (as in, born in and living in Nigeria).

Check out the ways the stars represented for their homeland and reminded everyone that whatever ethnic group they may be a part of (and there are way more than just the Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa people), Naija no dey carry last.
