Tonight, television stars across all genres gathered together in Los Angeles for the 69th Annual Emmy Awards. As has been the case for the past few years now, the Emmys has become place where diverse talent can not only be seen but recognized, and this year’s award show was no different with Lena Waithe becoming the first African American to win for writing in a comedy series for her work on Aziz Ansari’s Master of None.
