Janet Jackson is back to work on tour, and she’s looking as svelte as ever, even after her giving birth to her first child.

It’s not really surprising though, considering that, as we told you, Jackson had been training intensely for months leading up to her new State of the World Tour to not only be able to hit all her dance steps, but to be in tip-top shape. It’s also not surprising when you consider that over the course of her young life in the public eye, Jackson has managed to go up and down in size, but always find herself looking as fit as ever when she wants or needs to. And sometimes, she admits that she can take it overboard.
“Knowing I have these problems with body image, I ask my friends and family to tell me when I’ve lost too much too,” Jackson said in an interview with ABC News in 2012. “Because I will continue to pick on myself, like all women do, and say, You need to [lose] more here, more there.”
What seems to hold her back when it comes to being healthy is sweets. She has a love of chocolate, cake, and caramel apples (“There aren’t many things I don’t love” she told ABC News). But at the end of the day, she understands the importance of taking care of herself as she’s gone through health scares.
“When I gained weight in 2005, my nutritionist was very worried. I was close to having diabetes,” Jackson said. “Even when I lost it [and] then gained quite a bit back, there was always the thought of heart disease.”
Weight, as is the case for many other women, has always been something Jackson has had to deal with. She’s been teeny, she’s been heavy, she’s been lean and she’s been buff. Check out her fitness transformation from over the years:
