A friend sent me a picture earlier today of a young woman getting box braids installed over her locs and said, “Looks like you could try a new hairstyle and keep ur locks!” I learned about this trend a few years ago when Claire Sulmers, the brains behind Fashion Bomb Daily, installed some over her bright blond locs. It has since swelled in popularity and more and more women are choosing to switch it up temporarily. From box braids to crochet braids to Senegalese twists and more, you have more options than you think.
