Whether you’ve been “boo-ed up” for a while or your relationship is new, it’s fun to switch it up with an unconventional date. Dinner and a movie are great staples, but trying something quirky or adventurous can get the romantic juices flowing and help you learn something new about your partner. Here are some creative and fun date ideas to try with that special someone.
Be Kids for the Day
Relive the stuff you loved to do as children. Visit the planetarium or aquarium. Go roller-skating or ice-skating like you did in middle school. Hit the batting cage or ride bikes in the park; don’t forget to get ice cream. Better yet, go to an amusement park or water park and have a day of fun and play.
Dance like the Stars
Get sultry on the dance floor with your man by taking a tango or a salsa class. Learn some Hot moves that’ll get you love birds in the mood for uh… romance. Even if you have two left feet, laugh it off and embrace the awkwardness. Finish the night off by sharing a bottle of Spanish red wine and tapas.
Take a Sex Workshop
If you are open to it, a sex workshop can be a frisky date to try with your hubby. Now, I’m NOT suggesting the sort where there is any kind of nakedness going on. There are workshops where you can learn about tantric sex and the Kama Sutra where everyone remains fully clothed. The best part of this date? Going home and practicing! 😉
Theme Date
I will acknowledge that this is a little corny, but a theme date can be funny and cute. If your theme is Caribbean, cook (or order) a Jamaican feast for your man. Make some rum punch. Put on some steel band music and imagine that you are on an island for the night. You can also plan a theme date around your favorite movie. In a Love Jones-themed date, you can hit up the poetry club then the reggae club like Nina and Darius do in the movie. You can crack each other up by reciting movie quotes throughout the night. “Say baby, can I be your slave?”
The Dare Devil Date
Are you AND your boo adrenaline junkies? Try doing something adventurous like bungee jumping, parasailing, or skydiving. Share the rush with your sweetie.
Hiking (The Outdoorsy Date)
If you are the outdoorsy type, find a scenic trail and go hiking with your honey. Breathe in the fresh air, get a little exercise, walk and talk. It can be a great bonding experience as the two of you commune with nature. Don’t forget to pack a picnic lunch if you are going for a longer trek.
Take a Day Trip
Hop in the car (or Zip car) and go on a mini road trip with your honey bear. You can visit a nearby winery, cider mill, historical site, national park, or beach. Don’t feel like traveling too far? You can just hold hands and going window shopping on Main Street in a nearby town that neither of you have ever been to. What’s more fun than exploring someplace new with the one you love?
What is the best creative date that you’ve been on?
