In a new interview with Zane Lowe, singer The Weeknd explained why he decided to cut off his signature locs, and shared that he actually kept them afterward. According to the “Starboy” crooner, he keeps the hair in the safe of his manager, Amir “Cash” Esmailian, and decided to do the big chop after feeling like it was time for a change creatively.

“I was thinking about it for a bit,” he said. “The vision just wasn’t there anymore, you know? It was there, and then, just like the music was getting really sad [laughs].”
The Weeknd, born Abel Tesfaye, said cutting his free-form locs off was exhilarating.
“It was the greatest feeling of all time. It was so good,” he told Lowe. “I could sleep better, I felt lighter. When I perform, I perform better and feel better. It’s cool.”
He continued, “You don’t even realize how much of a pain in the a– it was until you cut it. But the best part about all of if it is that I get to wear f–king hats again. Wear a f–king cap, walk into a restaurant, nobody knows it’s you. It’s the greatest feeling.”
Considering that he kept the hair, clearly he loved his locs, but we can all relate to needing something a little different. Tesfaye isn’t the only one who was known for their locs before deciding to get their big chop on. Here are 10 other stars you probably forgot rocked locs.
