Hosted for a second year in a row by the incomparable Erykah Badu, the Soul Train Awards took place last night in Las Vegas, Nevada. A whole host of big stars (and some folks we honestly hadn’t seen before) showed up and showed out for the event. We won’t actually get to see the show air (on BET and Centric) until November 27, but we were able to get quite the peek at what all the stars wore on the Soul Train Awards 2016 red carpet. You already know that some of the looks were very much outside pf the box. Check out who stepped out stylin’ in what and who probably should fire their stylist before the next award show shindig.

We weren’t crazy about the hair (love the makeup though!), but Tamar Braxton arrived at the show looking elegant in a one-shoulder black gown with a high slit up the front. She went minimal with the jewelry.

Serving body as usual, Teyana Taylor stepped out in a Blonds NY dress that gave her a reptilian look. It even had a tail! On a side note, love the makeup and wet hair.

V. Bozeman

Wearing a Charles & Ron outfit and head wrap, singer and actress V. Bozeman brought a burst of color to the carpet. Once we realized this was a jumpsuit, we couldn’t help but fall in love with it.

Yuna

Lovely singer Yuna, known for staying in an elegant head wrap of sorts, stepped out in an embroidered black gown and heels with a pointed toe. We probably would have left that belt at home and tried some different shoes, but otherwise, she looks beautiful.

Last night must have been one for jumpsuits of all kinds, because actress Elise Neal stepped out in this look with a train on each pant leg. Have to admit that it’s a bit much for our tastes (and we’re not really in love with the hair choice). How about you?

The always beautiful MC arrived at the show in an LBD with a wealth of embroidery over it. We’re tired of the hump hairstyle in general (brings back Jersey Shore memories), but she looked fabulous nonetheless.

A slim Nicci Gilbert showed leg (and curves) in an ASOS dress. A strappy heel or pump would have probably been better than the shoes chosen, but we love the dress, makeup and hair.

Manigault wore a high-neck beaded gown that showed off some skin and a sleek hairstyle. The Trump supporter may be a mess in real life, but she cleaned up nicely for the show.

A big yes to that hair! Remy Ma looked beautiful in her velvet wrap gown and her blunt bob hairstyle. The velvet shoes may have been a bit much when it comes to wearing it with a dress of the same fabric and color, but she is delivering sass — and leg.
