Exploring wine is always a lot of fun, especially when you already know what you like. But sometimes, asking for “something sweet” and successfully finding it can be a struggle. And after you’ve struggled through a glass or two of wine that just isn’t to your taste, it can feel like branching out isn’t worth the trouble.
But while moscato is one of the most popular sweet wines out there, it’s far from alone when it comes to fruity flavor. So if you’re looking for something that you will fall in love with, try one of these sweet wine varieties. Not only are they delicious, but they are also great for bringing to dinner parties when you want to bring something to sip and share.
Riesling
There are many sweet varieties of riesling wine that are delicious. Just ask for the sweetest variety (or Google the name of the one you’re thinking about buying) to get one that tastes amazing.
Gewürztraminer
This wine is every bit as fruity and sweet as moscato. And many fans of it say it tastes even better. Why isn’t it as popular? Because when you read “gewürztraminer” on the menu, you don’t know what to think about it. Thankfully, someone broke down how to pronounce it for us. Our recommendation? Just play the video clip if you need to ask for it. Or, better yet, look for this one at the store so you don’t have to say the name out loud.
Chenin Blanc
This white wine can also be kind of tough to pronounce (Shay-Neen Blonc), but it makes up for pronunciation struggles by being light, sweet and the perfect wine to drink when it’s ice cold.
Champagne
Love the bubbles but want something sweeter? Look for “demi-sec” on the label. It’s a sweet variety of champagne that’s perfect for pairing with strawberries.

Ice Wine
This is a variety of wine that you’re going to have to go to the fancy liquor store to find, but it’s worth it. Ice wine is tropical and delicious. And it’s actually made from frozen grapes!
Sherry
Anyone who’s ever watched Downton Abbey has seen the characters sipping enough sherry to want to try it at least once. And there’s a lot to like about this sweet and strong white wine. So the next time you tune into an episode on demand, pick up a bottle and you won’t regret it.
Vin Santo
Moscato is sweet and fruity, but vin santo tastes like caramel. If you love sweet wine and want something that tastes amazing with dessert, this is a variety that you have to try.
Rosé
This delicious pink wine comes in a lot of varieties (white zinfandel is similar and a popular drink) and is great for making bubbly spritzers to have with brunch.
Sangria
Fair warning: sangria has a habit of becoming everyone’s favorite summer drink. Add any sweet white wine to fruit, let it sit, and you will have a delicious drink that’s good to have at any time of day.
