Every woman likes to think that her partner’s friends are comfortable around her—that they don’t tailor their behavior around her, or keep quiet about certain things, or try only to come over when they know she’s out. But do you really know if that’s the case? Whether you mean to or not, you may put out a vibe that makes your man’s friends feel like they need to walk on eggshells around you and can’t let loose when you’re in the room. Your boo might know that you’re very relaxed and non-judgmental, but if his friends don’t know it, they might be in his ear about you…Maybe you don’t give a damn, and that’s what makes you so scary to them in the first place! You and your boo are left out of couple trips

You keep finding out about couples trips that the other couples in the group went on, but nobody invited you. They always have some excuse like, “We figured you’d be working that weekend…”

The other SOs are all close

The girlfriends of all your boo’s best friends are very close—they do brunch and go on hikes all of the time. But they never invite you out. If they’re scared of you, you can almost guarantee that their boyfriends are, too.

Their SOs are very private

The significant others of your boo’s friends don’t share much about their personal life or their relationship. That’s a pretty strong signal that they find you judgmental, and that their boyfriends do, too.

They agree with everything you say

Nobody actually agrees with everything that other people say! So, if your boyfriend’s friends have literally never disagreed with you, there is a good chance that they are just afraid of you.

They take your side in fights

If your boo’s friends witness an argument that you and boo have, they take your side. Every time. Even when (if we’re honest) you were unreasonable.

They won’t accept your help

You offer to help them set up for a barbecue, to help them pain their nursery, to help them move into their new place, and they won’t accept your help. It’s amazing how many excuses they have as to why they won’t need your help.

Double dates never work out

It’s happened plenty of times; your boyfriend is hanging out with his pal, so you suggest, “Why doesn’t he invite his girlfriend and we can all do something together?” And every time, the girlfriend is busy. Every time. Maybe her boo tells her to pretend she’s busy, so this doesn’t turn into a double date.

When they do, the girlfriend sweeps you away

If you ever do arrange a double date, the other girlfriend monopolizes your time the entire night. Her boyfriend may have asked her to distract you so that you don’t bother him.

They’re a little too nice

His friends are at your beck and call. The moment you walk into a room, they all offer you a seat, a drink, a plate of food, the jackets of their backs…They’re trying to get ahead of any criticisms you may have.

They won’t talk about themselves

Any time you try to ask his friends about their lives, they quickly turn the conversation and ask you about your life. It seems like they don’t want to give up any information about themselves (that you might judge.)

They always introduce you to somebody else

If you’re at a party talking to one of your boo’s friends, they usually pass you off to somebody else. And they do it fast. It seems like there is always somebody else that you, “Just have to meet.”

They look worried when you say their name

If you call to one of your boyfriend’s friends from across the room, he can’t help but look a little terrified—like you’re his elementary school teacher and he’s in trouble.

That’s them hiding their real sense of humor. Your boyfriend’s friends can’t really have that terrible of a sense of humor—they just fear their real one will offend you.

You never hear your boo’s friends talk about the days before he met you. It’s as if those are the lost files…

They always host at their place

They’re adamant about hosting guys night at their homes—never at yours. You’ve insisted you want them over, but they have a slew of excuses why another place would be better.

If your boo hosts, he finds something for you to do

Your boo might know you make his friends uncomfortable, and conveniently book you a spa day any time he is hosting guys night.

You can’t see their social media posts

Do some clicking around. If most of your boyfriend’s friends have set it up so that you can’t see their social media posts, there’s a good chance they’re afraid of you.
