If you’re lactose intolerant, you might feel like an entire world of delicious foods are completely off limits to you.  That especially pertains to the sweet stuff: dessert.  And while yogurt, ice cream and other dessert items made with milk or milk products might taste delicious, they’re simply not worth the cramping, bloating, gas or diarrhea that can occur after consumption if you’re lactose intolerant.

Thankfully, more and more brands are making products with the lactose intolerant individuals in mind.  These products, ones that traditionally contain milk, are instead being made with almond or cashew milk, soy and other ingredients that are gentler on the stomach and the digestive system as a whole.  And despite these changes, they render the food just as, if not more delicious.  There are also plenty of desserts on the market (or that you can make at home) that are made without dairy altogether.  Check out some of the many sweets you can enjoy if you’re lactose intolerant without having to sacrifice your comfort.

Almond Milk Ice Cream

Just like you can make ice cream with cashew milk, you can also make it with almond milk.  People swear by its creamy taste and indulgent flavors, like Ben & Jerry’s Coffee Caramel Fudge, Chunky Monkey, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, and P.B. & Cookies.
