In order to choose the right haircut it is important to know the shape of your face. Knowing your face shape is key so that you will accentuate your positive features. A haircut that doesn’t fit you can actually take away from your look rather than be an exciting daring new adventure. A perfect cut that compliments you can literally change a perception. Hairstyles bring out radiance, personal style and personality. Your look shows who you are. If you are a mother/housewife, socialite, comedian by nature, or even a very serious business man/woman your look translates that. Here are some face shapes to help with your transition:

Oval Face

An oval shaped face is said to be the perfect face shape. A person with an oval shaped face can ideally wear any hairstyle long or short. The proportions are even, forehead to eyebrows, eyebrows to the end of your nose, end of your nose to your chin. The forehead is slightly wider than the chin but is proportioned.

Round Face

A round shaped face is usually wide and is round at the hairline and jawline.

On a round shaped face, hairstyles should have height to create length to the face. When getting a haircut keeping length in the crown area takes away from the width of the cheeks. Bangs are great, try styling them to the side. A side part with ears exposed is also an option.

Square Face

A square shaped face is similar to the round shaped face except the hairline and jawline is square. The features are wide also.

On a square shaped face side parts are great. Hair that’s styled towards your face is ideal.  A layered bob precision cut around the face with a part would be a nice choice. The key is to soften the jawline with the layers.

Oblong Face

An oblong face is usually very recognizable, the features are long and narrow.

Bangs are a great option for oblong faces. To make the face appear shorter and wider. Bangs precision cut around the face would look great. Curls and fullness on the sides would also give the illusion of width in the cheek area.

Diamond Face

A Diamond shaped face is narrow at the forehead and chin but wide at the cheeks.

On a diamond shaped face try hairstyles that create width around the forehead and jawline. Hair that’s styled close to the head is also ideal for the diamond shaped face. Showing the cheeks while creating fullness around the forehead and chin area would look great!

Heart Shaped Face

A heart shaped face is wide at the forehead and cheeks and really narrow at the chin area.

On a heart shaped face try hairstyles with center or off center parts with layers around the chin area to create width. The key is to have fullness in the more narrow areas of your face.
