Building muscle is not only great for a more toned body, but it also helps your metabolism burn what you do eat faster, helping you drop pounds. And it won’t work up a hair-ruining sweat like cardio. Stick to one muscle group a day (arms, legs, core) to give yourself time to recover between workouts.

Set Your Workout Goals Around Your Protective Style

Use a few weeks of cornrows, box braids or even a few of your favorite wigs to start on an intensive workout plan. Maximize your sweat-inducing cardio, minimize your calories and see how much progress you can make before it’s time to go back to your regular ‘do. Your ends (and your behind) will thank you.
