If you missed your period, notice your feet expanding, or are carrying a little extra weight around the bottom of your abdomen, you might buy a pregnancy test. If you’re feeling moodier than usual, or craving peanut butter on tacos, or crying suddenly at nothing at all, you might wonder if a mini-you is growing inside of you willing these things to happen. And, if you and your partner are trying to get pregnant, then you’ll read everything as a sign that you’re pregnant—from a twitch in your eye to the direction the birds are flying and a new pimple on your nose. But somewhere in between the obvious signs and the delusionally hopeful signs, there are some subtle but real signs of pregnancy. Every woman should know them, so if she feels them, she’ll have a reason to celebrate…of sue the condom company, depending on her needs right now.

You’re tired all of the time
Growing a baby is a tough job and if your body is doing it, it will need rest all of the time. One early sign of pregnancy is feeling tired after just a few hours of activity, according to Whattoexpect.com.
Your nipples change colors
It’s not from that pool party where you got drunk and brave and tanned topless. Pregnancy hormones can darken your areola according to Thealphaparent.com.

Your areola gets bigger
Pregnancy hormones can also cause your nipple to stretch, so if you notice your areola getting bigger, don’t be too quick to do the, “My boobs are growing!” dance. It could be pregnancy says Thealphaparent.com.
Your breasts are bigger
You might think, “I know that’s a sign of pregnancy!” but your breasts can also grow right before your period, so many women overlook this and think, “I’m just getting my period.” They’ll also feel tender says Thealphaparent.com.

Acne
If you’re getting acne but you haven’t had it in years, you may want to see your regular doctor before rushing to the dermatologist—pregnancy hormones can cause acne very early on says Americanpregnancy.org.
Congestion
Are you constantly blowing your nose, but you don’t have allergies or a cold? Nearly thirty percent of women experience congestion in the beginning of pregnancy, says Newkidscenter.com.
A dark line under your belly
Pregnancy hormones can cause a dark, vertical line on your skin under your belly button. This can appear long before a baby bump does, says Americanpregnancy.com.

Your temperature is all over the place
When you become pregnant, your body’s metabolic rate increases, which will make your temperature go up. Hormonal changes will cause heat flashes too. If you’re hitting the AC constantly, you could be pregnant says Newkidscenter.com.

Spotting
After a sperm fertilizes an egg, that egg sits in the lining of your uterus which can cause light bleeding says Implantationspotting.net. Many women mistake that for a period and then wait a whole additional month before realizing, “I missed a period!”

Your vision is blurry
Some women experience blurry vision in the early stages of pregnancy according to Parents.com. If you experience a change in vision, and are experiencing some of the other symptoms on this list, see your OBGYN—not your eye doctor.

Your complexion changes
The same hormones that gave you a dark line on your tummy can make your cheeks dark, too says Americanpregnancy.com. If you find yourself reaching for a darker shade of makeup, you might want to grab a pregnancy test while you’re at it.

Some food smells disgust you
Most people know that craving odd foods can be a sign of pregnancy but not everyone knows that, just a few weeks into pregnancy, you might become nauseous at the smell of certain foods that never bothered you before says Cafemom.com.

You’re hungry constantly
This is another symptom that many women mistake for an impending period. But actually, your body wants fuel to do the big job of growing a baby, so you’re constantly hungry says Whattoexpect.com.

Excessive thirst
A lot of pregnant women are constantly parched in their first term. Your body requires extra fluids during pregnancy, says Thebump.com.
Your hair gets thicker
Here’s a nice symptom! Less hair will fall out during pregnancy. When you’re pregnant, more hair follicles are in the “active growth phase” says Mom.me.
