There are lots of ways to respond to shade. You can get mad and mumble behind someone’s back, temporarily lose it and take them all the way to school, or try to be the better person and let it go. (And then get mad all over again at 3 a.m. when it’s too late to deliver the perfect comeback you just thought up).
But when you’re famous, a touch of amnesia can be the best way to rise above the drama. These celebrities heard some shady tea about themselves and said they can’t participate in the gossip for one simple reason: because they do not know who their hater is.

NeNe Leakes and Marlo Hampton
We all have a former BFF that we don’t know anymore. And NeNe Leakes put Marlo Hampton on that list.
When Andy Cohen asked the former Real Housewives of Atlanta star how she felt about Hampton and Sheree Whitfield getting close on the new season, Leakes responded with “Who?”
But Marlo Hampton refused to let her friend forget her that fast and responded with this shady tweet.

Sometimes the best way to cut nonsense out of a conversation is to forget that it exists at all. And Gabrielle Union recently put Stacey Dash’s comments against Black History Month and BET into context in the best way.
When the Associated Press asked Union how she felt about Dash while doing press at the Sundance Film Festival, Union responded “Who’s that? Who’s Stacey Dash?” She followed up by saying, “The more that we focus on inclusion and a true representation of this country, I think that crazy lady will have less to say.”

Sometimes the best way to shut down a celebrity feud is to redefine your definition of a celebrity. Even if you have to forget twice, like Eminem did when “Ron Burgundy” asked him about his feud with Afrojack during the EMAs:
Ron Burgundy: “Afrojack has been talking sh-t about you, anything you want to say?”
Eminem: “Who?”
Ron Burgundy: “Afrojack.”
Eminem: “Who?”
Ron Burgundy: “That’s what I thought.”

Do you think that Mariah Carey really doesn’t know who Kim Kardashian is?
Nick Cannon swears it’s true. And that’s what he told Howard Stern when the shock jock suggested that Carey might be mad to discover that Cannon was with the reality star before they met.

Kim Kardashian and Megyn Kelly
When Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly called Kim Kardashian “enhanced,” Entertainment Tonight wanted to know what Kardashian thought of the newsroom shade.
Kim simply responded, “I don’t know who that is… Everyone has an opinion and everyone is entitled to that. I don’t go around promoting anything, but I think people should be happy with who they are.”
It’s hard to argue with that.

Britt Meddler Bette Midler and Justin Bieber
Bette Midler tried her hand at Twitter feuding when she took a jab at Justin Bieber. After Bieber’s leaked peen pic (and his dad’s questionable response), Midler tweeted, “The biggest d–k in this situation is the dad who abandoned his son.”
Bieber responded to the fired shots during a Billboard interview saying, “This Britt Meddler. I don’t even know who that is, honestly. I wanted to immediately say ‘Who is this lady?’, but then I’m just fueling this negativity.”
Less than 24 hours later, Bette Midler kept things funny by tweeting back, “.@justinbieber Britt Meddler! I don’t know who that is either! But damn that bi–h!”

When Justin Bieber reportedly tried to hang out with famous Rolling Stone rocker Keith Richards over New Year’s at a tiny beach bar in Turks and Caicos, Richards immediately shut down the meeting by asking him, “Who the f–k are you?”

Gossip Girl and Courtney Stodden
Even Gossip Girl jumped on the #idkyou bandwagon when character Blair (Leighton Meester) told Dan (Penn Badgley) that her first time was “the least sexy thing since Courtney Stodden.” And Dan responded, “I don’t know who that is, but it’s much worse.”
But Courtney Stodden (who became famous as the teen bride who married 50-year-old Doug Hutchison in 2011) does know Gossip Girl and took the free press in stride tweeting, “Oh Blair… If Dan was with me, I would have shown him a waaay better time! xxx #gossipgirl @gossipgirl.”

UFC fighter Ronda Rousey devoted a lot of air time to dragging Mayweather’s name through the mud. But when Boxing Scene asked him how he felt about the jabs coming from Rousey, Mayweather shut things down by responding, “I don’t know who he is.”
But later, after Rousey’s devastating knockout by Holly Holm, Mayweather took the high road and offered to help Rousey with her boxing, saying, “I want Ronda Rousey to hold her head up high and don’t let this discourage you. If you need help as far as with boxing, I’m here to help you. It’s all about timing and inches. Her ground game is unbelievable. She’ll be OK.”
