If you’re in the DMV area, you can check out her latest exhibition, “How Does My Agony Fit?” It’s on display until December 4 and examines grief and empathy as it pertains to violence committed against Black youth.

Debra Cartwright
A lover of “conversation, expression and minimalism,” ethereal watercolors are this artist’s specialty. Cartwright challenges the strong Black woman trope and depicts us as carefree, feminine and oh, so beautiful.
