Lendeh Sherman

Drawing inspiration from her Liberian roots, this multimedia artist explores identity as well as social and political issues in her work.  If you’re in the DMV area, you can check out her latest exhibition, “How Does My Agony Fit?” It’s on display until December 4 and examines grief and empathy as it pertains to violence committed against Black youth.

Shantell Martin

The London-born, Brooklyn-based artist weaves intricate stories from her life together in very minimalist ways on a black and white palette. Her stream-of-consciousness drawings have garnered quite a bit of attention and a lot of praise. Check out more of Martin’s work here.

Catch a glimpse of Kashmir Thompson’s art and you feel instant nostalgia.  Some of her work pays homage to our favorite films and TV shows of the 80s and 90s, like Coming To America, A Different World and Martin, to name a few.  In addition to prints, her website offers bags, stationary, and T-shirts.  There’s something for everyone!
