Women have it hard, don’t we? We’re the ones whose fiercest fashion choices are the most uncomfortable. We’re also the ones with the biggest and most vulnerable hearts and we’re the emotional ones, so yay feelings! We also are the ones who have the sexual organ that has all the painful components. Ouch to periods, giving birth, fibroids and all the other vagina-hating monsters out there.

Our complicated vaginas also have to be monitored. From weird growths to foul smells, you’ve got to keep your senses fixed on your lady parts. Healthy vaginas have bacteria. Weird, I know. But that bacteria helps it stay in working, clean order. But a good vagina doesn’t give off a powerfully awful smell. That’s a bad kitty and we don’t want that, right ladies?

It may be embarrassing, but you should always get a good whiff of your vagina to make sure that the smell is normal. If the sniff makes your eyes water, there may be an imbalance and you should see your doctor. And once you get your clean bill of vaginal health, make sure you continue to do these things so that you can say you know how to keep your vagina fresh!

Switch it up

If you and yours are getting nasty (literally) in the bedroom and going from hole to hole, take a second and swap the condom, especially if you’re going from anal to vaginal. That’s just not good for your kitty cat.

 Keep her cool

As long as your naughty bits stay cool, she’ll stay fresh. Additionally, spending too much time in hot tubs and baths can rid your vagina of some of the natural bacteria that helps keep her clean. This is going to throw your pH balance all the way off. A fresh vagina requires a balanced pH.

You taste like what you eat

It’s true. What you eat directly effects what you taste like. Sweet and healthy fruits like pineapple help you taste and smell sweeter. Yogurt has also been proven to contain the bacteria which naturally occurs in our bodies to maintain a healthy vagina. And do yourself a favor and avoid overdoing it with sugar. Heightened blood sugar can cause yeast infections and buildup, which will cause bad odor.

Keep the hedges trimmed

While there’s no proof that less hair down there means less freshness, we all know hair carries scent a lot easier than bare skin.

The clean between the clean

If you’re out and about and you use the bathroom, but tissue doesn’t get you as clean as you like, carry baby wipes with you for that quick and disposable clean you need for a fresh vajay.

Use the right soap

Do not use soaps with antibacterial properties or too much perfume in them. This throws off your balance and by now, you should know what a bad balance does to the kitty.

Douche: don’t be one and don’t do it

Even though your mom will probably tell you otherwise, don’t do it unless your doctor orders it. Douching is the worst way to disrupt your balance and will guarantee you an infection. You’re worse than where you started. Be careful girl.

Front to back or bust

Momma definitely taught you this one. Always wipe front to back. The other way around brings bacteria towards your vagina that shouldn’t be there. Hello infection!

Underneath your clothes

Your choice of undies is very important. They shouldn’t be too tight, nor should they contain too much dye to get inside of your vagina. Also, cotton over everything. This helps keep her cool, dry and fresh. Also, change your underwear daily. I shouldn’t have to tell you that.

Safe sex is the best sex

Nothing says you love your vagina like engaging in safe sex practices. There’s many contraceptives out there, but the tried and true condom keeps your juices and his juices to yourselves. The less STD’s and STI’s you contract, the fresher your vagina will be.
