If you just so happened to creep over to Twitter today while your employer’s back was turned, you likely saw that both Carmelo Anthony and his wife, Lala Anthony, are trending on Twitter. Considering that basketball season has long been over, and the “Power” finale aired last weekend, you, like us, probably came to the conclusion that Black Twitter is up to their shenanigans.
So the story goes like this: a woman by the name of Patrice, who is claiming to be the mother of rapper Jermaine “Maino” Coleman’s daughter, lashed out at the actress on Instagram earlier this week. Apparently, Patrice is under the impression that LaLa has been creeping with her child’s father. You can peep her full rant, which she left beneath one of Lala’s photos below.
FameolousOnce Patrice’s allegations successfully went viral across all social media platforms, an anonymous source came forward claiming to have seen Maino and Lala together on a date earlier this week. While my mama has always taught me not to vouch for anyone’s penis, vagina and what they may or may not be doing with it behind closed doors, I have to respectfully call bullsh-t on this entire situation.
Keep reading to see the five reasons why we’re not running with these rumors.
1. Lala just isn’t a messy person
And this is the epitome of mess. We’re not saying that LaLa is incapable of cheating, but we wold like to believe that if she were to cheat, she wouldn’t go about it like this.
We love LaLa, but if we had to be perfectly honest, her VH1 reality show was a snoozefest. If one were to venture out onto the path of messiness, one would assume that they’d at least want to financially profit from doing so.
2. Because Maino…
If you’ll recall, the last celebrity woman that Maino allegedly cheated on a partner with was Lil’ Kim. A few years back, a woman by the name of Zakia Baum appeared on a short-lived reality series called “Starter Wives Confidential.” From the way that the story was presented, Zakia and Maino had been over well before filming began. Still, she wasted no time blasting Kim for allegedly ruining her family. Oh yeah, Zakia was also under the impression that he was cheating with his manager Hillary. So yeah, you get the idea. Not to mention that this dude recorded a diss track about Zakia after their split.
If LaLa were to step out on Melo, we would hope that common sense would send her running in the opposite direction of a dude like Maino.
And of course, the timing of this so-called scandal is too perfect. As his daughter’s mother so eloquently put it, Maino just dropped a mixtape last week.
3. New York is small city, and mess travels fast
We hate to generalize, but overall, women are just better cheaters. An anonymous source came forward claiming to have seen LaLa and Maino together at a Monday showing of Straight Outta Compton at Kips Bay AMC. Really? We find it hard to believe that woman married to one of the most well-known men in New York City would venture to Manhattan, of all places, to see a film as popular as Straight Outta Compton with a dude she intended to creep with. Yes, there’s a chance they were at the same theater, but the fact that this is being pegged as a date is wild. When Carmelo signed his contract with the Knicks, LaLa was immediately dubbed the “First Lady of New York.” Going uptown to creep with Master Messy Boots is asking to get caught.
4. People doing dirt at least try to be low while they’re doing the deed
We honestly can’t think of anyone with an ounce of sense who would live tweet from a date they’re on with someone other than their partner.
5. LaLa and Carmelo appear to still be very much in love
Lala and Carmelo celebrated their four-year wedding anniversary last month, and she still considers that day to be “one of the happiest.”
We’re going to need some receipts before jumping on this bandwagon…
