Black Dad Bloggers: 15 Fathers We Love!

I’m a New Daddy

This  blog provides a ton of resources and advice to brand-new dads in a supportive online environment.

Readers can nominate a Father of the Week, ask a question—no matter how embarrassing—or learn about transitioning to fatherhood and creating a work-life balance.

Black Dad Connection was created with three connected ideas in mind: fatherhood, health and well-being, and enjoying life. The site has a unique focus on staying fit in order to be the best father that a man can be.

Author Keith Morton states: “The reality is that you can’t be a great father if you are dead because of preventable or controllable diseases, especially those that disproportionately effect black males. And you can’t enjoy life if you are, well, dead. Fatherhood and disease prevention are connected to quality of life, for better or for worse. And we’re here to make sure that the connection is an important part of the long fatherhood journey…”

I launched this blog in early 2012, and it is rapidly growing into a vibrant and engaged community of people looking to improve their family life, their work life, and the lives of those around them.

I help motivated but overwhelmed husbands and fathers learn how to lead and love their families so they can have lasting, fulfilling marriages and meaningful influence on their kids.

The For Fathers project celebrates the importance of fatherhood through photography, film, and all other creative artistic mediums. This project attracts a demographic of active fathers, young professionals, stay-at-home dads and all men around the world looking for daily inspiration.
We really like the focus of the creative and a site for stay-at-home dads from around the world. Kudos to Marlon Cole, the brainchild behind the forFathers Project, who flashes photos and inspires others to make memories.

Fred Goodall: Mocha Dad

Fred says that :

In 2008, I started Mocha Dad to chronicle his life as a father and to counter the negative stereotypes regarding black fatherhood. I wanted people to get a first hand account of a black father who is intimately involved in his children’s lives.

I  blog to not only capture my experiences as a father, but also to help motivate other fathers to be more actively engaged and involved with their children.

Mike Johnson: Playground Dad

Mike Johnson aims to help dads make the most of the national average of the 6 hours that dads tend to spend with their children. A shocking average, but he states that it’s actually higher than in the past.

PlaygroundDad.com is for the dads who dare to make the most of these 6 sacred hours, “no Blackberrys; no conference calls, just quality time.” Playground Dad connects this new generation of fathers with the events and products that help them spend better time with their newborn to grade-school aged kids.
