You finally pinched all your pennies together and you’re headed to your summer getaway. Whether it’s an island, one of the coasts or an international journey you just might find some gorgeous, sun-kissed man to make you forget about all your real world problems. Now, we’re not suggesting that you go down there, up there or over there looking to get booed up, but if it does happen make sure you’re smart in your decision making. Don’t do anything reckless. Need a bit of extra guidance? Check out these tips…

Wrap it Up Before you Smack it Up

Now you already know this. But it bears repeating because some of you don’t know how to act once you leave the house. If you’re going to be getting down, making love in the sand and what not, make sure you bring a little something or two somethings to make sure you don’t take back a viral souvenir. You have to be careful at home and even more so abroad.

Don’t Bring That Home

We loved the story of Stella getting her groove back but we winced at what happened to Terry and her Jamaican husband turned enemy. Girl, don’t let that be you. While it’s all fun in the sun when you’re away, you don’t want or need to be somebody’s meal ticket into the good ole US of A. Leave the boy toy in his native land. If it is real love wait a while before you make any serious commitments.

Ignore Jose

If you’re only checking for that man once you’ve had six shots then it’s probably not a genuine attraction. That’s Jose talking. Hopefully, you’re not inebriated now and you’ll remember these words after you’ve tossed a few back. If you want to keep drinking, don’t follow the man who’s giving you the eye across the bar.

Listen to your girls

If you’re determined to have Jose and the dude across the bar as well, make sure you run your plans past your girls. In theory you’ll be traveling with women who have your back. If you must venture into uncharted waters make sure you have a sober captain to make sure you don’t end up shipwrecked somewhere.

Don’t Get Caught Up

Take this summer fling for what it really is…a summer fling. Unless it’s clear that you both are jonesin’ for one another and you want to take it to the next level, don’t go into this relationship trying to make it something that it’s not. Be realistic. This is about the short term.

Keep Your Money

While you shouldn’t be sponsoring him into your country make sure you don’t throw away your money in his either. It’s cool to have your fun and all but you’re not there to be somebody’s Suga Mama. This is not a Beyoncé song. You’ll want to return home with a your dignity.
