Do you do it with the lights off because you think your boobs are bizarrely shaped? Take a look around a gym locker room: most of us don’t have “normal” shaped boobs! Here are eight different boob shapes that are actually very common, and how to choose the right bra for each.

The bra for you

Little cloth bras aren’t going to do you any favors (unless you want to nip out—then that’s a different story and more power to you). Grab a padded bra that is lacy throughout the entire cup. Your nipple will be mostly hidden under the padding, and if it still shows slightly, it will blend in with the bumps from the lacing.

You can do a lot just by adjusting the lift of the cup holding your larger breast. A stretch cup bra has cups that are meant to stretch to fit the boob inside, so you don’t need to worry about the difference in your cup sizes. Just adjust the strap on the larger breast to lift it up more.

Breasts that sag

We’re talking seriously saggy breasts here—not breasts that have slightly become victim to gravity, but are overall still perky. We’re talking more like deflated balloon animals. Your breasts look like someone grabbed them, pulled them out away from your body, let the air out of them and dropped them.

You don’t necessarily need a special bra, but you need some special tricks. Try wearing a band size one size smaller than usual. You want it to really hug you around your rib cage. Now grab a cup size one size larger than your normal cup size. This will hoist your boobs up, and leave room in the large cup for the extra skin to push out.

Boobs that face outward

Do your boobs look like two eyes gazing around the room in different directions? Do they face away from each other as if your nipples are totally paranoid and trying to keep an eye on things?

You want a bra with a very wide cup. Not a cutesy demi-cup. Standard size cups will leave you with half a boob hanging out of the side of the bra on either side. The actual cups of your bra should begin almost inside your armpit. Grab one with thick, sturdy padding on the outer part of the cups, as the filling will push your boobs to the center and help give them a lift.

You want a bra that resembles the cups of a corset, like WonderBra’s 3 Degrees of Hot Ultimate Convertible Bra. If you look at corsets, the underwire doesn’t connect all the way from one cup to the next. Instead, each cup has its very own separate underwire, creating actual little cups that hold up each breast. They give your boobs great separation and might center those nipples.

Breasts that are bottom-heavy

Do you have half pancakes? Do you have an odd distribution of, well, boob? Essentially, your breasts are “settled.” They are bottom heavy, like little half pancakes jutting out of your chest.

Grab a bra that has padding along the bottom of the cups (so it goes horizontally along the bottom). If your bra only has padding along the sides (going vertically from top to bottom of the cup) your breasts will just look smashed together, but still small. Bottom padding will lift your breasts up, and give you a full, round shape with excellent cleavage.

Shaped like teardrops

Are your boobs bulbous? Are they full but shaped like teardrops (or utters), with the distribution of fatty tissue slowly increasing towards the bottom of the breast? They are self-supported breasts but do you wish they were mostly round overall?

Many women consider you lucky! Boob job patients often request the teardrop shape. Embrace these! Wear thin, cloth bras with just a little insert over the nipple so you don’t nip out. Seriously, you don’t want those perfectly round boobs. They look fake. You, on the other hand, have a great shape.

The bra for you

Hey, you could go braless every day of your life if you wanted to. You don’t need to worry about sagging. There is nothing for gravity to even take its toll on. Nip out. Nipples are the new boobs in high fashion. Rock yours.
