Like a quilted Chanel purse there are some trends that become eternal staples. The beauty world, equally as versatile as the fashion world, has a list every year of the hottest trends. And while some of these trends are sure to fly into 2011 and far beyond, others are simply…whack.
1. Red lipstick with a tinge of orange. Every Madame has to have a shade of red in her makeup bag, perfect for a fun day in the sun or Hot night out.
2. Pastel colors found in nature. The color forecasters say these tones can be incorporated in dresses, eye shadows and even headbands (think feathery).
3. Pink cheeks and lips. Just don’t overdo it—don’t need any “Raggedy Ann” look-alikes.
4. Pale glittery lip gloss. It’s just cute and a non-offensive way to add glamour.
5. Silver eyeliner. Charcoal liner is a sultry way to add a little glam.

1. Black nail polish. We know, we know. It legitimately was hot two years ago, but guess what? It’s not two years ago. If you’re feeling the darker shades go with veiled gray tints or somewhere in the navy blue family.
2. Oversized braids. Reminiscent of our childhood days, when mom used to add barrettes, this look doesn’t work if the braids are enormous. Think one or two small carefree looking braids across the forehead or tied into your ponytail.
3. Beyonce curly weave. Less glamorous than the past three years, this season is about looking natural and light. Huge curly weaves weigh your whole look down. Try loose curls with just as much body.
4. Bumped in the front. Over it. That’s all.
5. Two toned hair. We know everyone likes Rihanna’s edgy look, but two-toned color should have stayed behind in 2004 with Keyshia Cole’s red and blonde look. Try bold, but natural colored highlights for the same effect.
