Miguel and his girlfriend Nazanin Mandi have been together on and off for 10 years. From what we can see, they appear to be a great match and if you’re like many out there, you’re probably wondering why they’re not married yet.
According to Miguel, even though they’ve been together for a decade, marriage isn’t something he just wants to “throw” around. He recently told Hot 97:
“I think it’s more about working. The thing is, you got to know who you are as a person, first of all. I think I’ve come so far as a man and I’m just starting to feel solid where I can be like, ‘You know what? I think I can hold this down legitimately.’ I think now people throw things around like marriage. I just wasn’t raised like that.”
Unlike many, he expressed that he doesn’t feel pressured to put a ring on it like many other men.
“I don’t feel pressure because I know that when I commit, I really commit. Now it’s just thrown around because it’s so easy to breakup. And I’m just not that kind of person. I’m just not gonna do that. I wouldn’t do that to her. That’s just not how I was raised. I just don’t feel like that would be honorable.”
He didn’t exactly answer questions about whether or not Nazanin has been pressuring him about popping the question. The “Quickie” singer did, however, say that she has accepted the idea that he’s “wild at heart.”
“I’m wild at heart. I just follow my instincts and that’s what this album is about. I think she’s learned that and she’s had to adjust and had to learn and also embrace. And I love her more for that.”
When asked if that means he occasionally sleeps with other women, he decided to play coy.
“I just know I’m wild at heart, man.”
Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Personally, I’d be kind of uncomfortable in a situation similar to the one being portrayed in this interview, but none of us really know the ins and outs of Miguel and Nazanin’s relationship.
