“Hey There Delilah” – Plain White T’s

When Plain White T’s frontman, Tom Higgins first met Delilah DiCrescenzo, he was smitten. So much so that he wrote the Grammy nominated song for her.  Though she had a boyfriend at the time, she accompanied him to the 2008 Grammys, but Amy Winehouse won the award for Song of the Year.

“Flaws and All” – Beyoncé

“Running the world” is a hard job to do, and it’s even more impressive if someone can put up with you while you’re doing it.  When Beyoncé, Solange, Ne-Yo and Shea Taylor penned the song, it was to reflect her relationship with husband Mr. Carter.

“Maybe I’m Amazed” – Paul McCartney

When Paul McCartney set off on his future successful solo career, he was initially stressed out due to the break up of “The Beatles.”  But, his wife at the time, the late Linda McCartney, helped him through the rough time, and he penned and dedicated this amazing song to her.

This amazing song was inspired and written for John’s wife, Chrissy Teigen.

“Sweet Child ‘O Mine” – Guns N’ Roses

There’s a lot that can be said about Axl Rose, but one thing, for sure, he was a talented song writer.

After listening to guitarist Slash’s guitar warm up, he got inspired to write lyrics that were dedicated to his then girlfriend Erin Everly.

“Underneath It All” – No Doubt

When Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rosdale toured together, the two got to know each other and eventually fell in love and got married.  Gwen penned this song to her beau about their relationship and connection.

“Nothin’ On You” – B.O.B. ft. Bruno Mars

Before he was tantalizing women on #eggplantfriday, B.O.B. was inspired to pen the popular song for a special woman in his life.  Apparently things didn’t last with the un-named woman, but the song is still fabulous!

“Moses” – Coldplay

During the time that Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin were first falling in love, Chris Martin wrote and dedicated this song to her.  They later used the title to name their son.

Unfortunately they are no longer together, but the song is a nice keepsake of love.

“Me and Mr. Jones” – Amy Winehouse

Okay, so no relationship is perfect, and there are some people in dysfunctional relationships who probably can make this their theme song.  I’m not judging.

But this song was an ode to the very handsome Nasir Jones, and Amy put a lot of references to him in the song.

“’03 Bonnie and Clyde” Beyonce and Jay Z

Before they were “On the Run” and public with their relationship, Jay Z and Kanye West sampled Tupac’s song “Me and My Girlfriend” as an ode to his relationship with Beyoncé.  The song became a hit, and made a reemergence during the couple’s successful “On the Run” tour.

“He Loves Me” – Jill Scott

After dating for several years and then marrying, Jill Scott penned this song about love as an ode to her then husband Lyzel Williams.  Though the marriage didn’t last, Jill is comfortable on her own for the moment, while we get to sway to the rhythm of an amazing love song.

“It Ain’t Over ‘Til It’s Over” – Lenny Kravitz

After a break up with Lisa Bonet, Lenny Kravitz wrote this tune about not giving up just yet for her.  The two went on to get married, but the marriage didn’t last.  But it did produce their actress daughter Zoe Kravitz.

“My Cherie Amour” – Stevie Wonder

When Stevie Wonder was 17 years old, he wrote and dedicated this song to his then-girlfriend Marsha.  In fact, the original title was “Oh My Marsha,” but after their break up, he changed the title and the lyrics, and the song was a hit.

“Loving Me 4 Me” – Christina Aguilera

During her “dirrty” phase, Christina Aguilera was being more vulnerable to audiences through her music, and this song in particular on her “Stripped” album was very open.

The song, written about her then boyfriend, was an ode to the love and understanding he had for her.
