The best way to do that without being burdened by colorism is to deconstruct this problem and save ourselves. At the end of the day, we can’t continue to blame the media and others for the way we talk to and treat others when it comes to our skin. It’s time for us to stand up and do better. As Iyanla Vanzant said in the documentary, for women holding grudges against one another over skin, “Her experience may have been different, but at the end of the day, we’re all black.”
