Even though they live public lives, many celebrities don’t want all of their business out there in the streets as public knowledge. So it should come as no surprise to find out these stars have handed out confidentiality agreements for others to sign.

Mariah Carey

By the time we found out that there was trouble in paradise with Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, the celebrity couple had already begun the legal process of splitting up. Lawyers for both sides hashed out a confidentiality agreement as part of their divorce and unsurprisingly, it favored the diva singer. The agreement barred Cannon from speaking in public about their divorce or else he would face tough financial penalties. Meanwhile, the “We Belong Together” singer can talk about their spilt freely if she chooses.

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union

After they got engaged late last year, Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union’s Labor Day weekend nuptials were the talk of the town. As it got closer to the date more information on their big day became available but don’t expect to find out too much information. They happy couple had all of their guests and vendors sign a confidentiality agreement that barred cameras and cell phones and if anyone breathed a word of what went on on, including any financial details they may come across, they will be forced to pay a hefty, but unspecified, amount in damages.

Kanye West

For being one of the biggest celebrities on the planet, Kanye West sure treasures his privacy and tries to keep his business away from the media at all costs. He has become accustomed to handing out confidentiality agreements. Back when he was promoting his 2008 album “808s & Heartbreaks,” The Chicago rapper held a private party in Los Angeles that included a plethora of naked female models. He barred video and photography at the event and made sure the music that was played that night didn’t end up on the radio the next day. When he popped the question to his baby mama Kim Kardashian at the AT&T Park in San Francisco, video surfaced of the event in no time, but that’s only because YouTube founder Chad Hurley broke the confidentiality agreement he signed and uploaded the private proposal to a video-sharing site.

Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake dated Jessica Biel on and off for several years before he figured out she was the love of his life. After the couple became engaged, they planned their big day. Timberlake and Biel tied the knot in a lavish wedding in Italy but guests were required to sign a form promising not to reveal any details of their big day or take photographic evidence of their day. During an interview with Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live,” late night television host Jimmy Fallon admitted that he broke down and signed the agreement but did say that the bride looked stunning in her dress.

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian

Kanye West is certainly no stranger to having his guests sign a form in exchange for their silence. He took control of the weddings plans and mapped out every detail of the day he would make an honest woman out of Kim Kardashian. And he definitely made sure to have everyone sign a confidentiality agreement. Guests promised not to talk about their wedding to the media. Cell phones were banned from the premise and if any were found, it was warned that they would be confiscated immediately.

Justin Bieber

Ever since he’s shed his wholesome image, Justin Bieber has rebranded himself as a hard-partying, fast-driving pop star that loves his marijuana. So you can imagine what happens at a party thrown by the “Baby” singer. But you may not hear about it because Biber has his guests sign a waiver that forbids them from talking about the party or posting any photos on social networking sites or they would be forced to pay a very still fine: $5 million. He later dropped the fine down to $3 million.

Nene Leakes

When “Real Housewives of Atlanta” first aired, Nene Leakes was happily married to Gregg but over the course of several seasons, they found themselves on opposite sides in divorce court. But before either one of them could get used to the single life, they were back together and ready to tie the knot. Their nuptials turned into a television special for Bravo and their big day was filmed. That’s probably why Leakes had all of her guests sign a confidentiality agreement. If guests wanted to be in attendance, they were forced to sign a form promising not to be under the influence of any drug, be in good medical condition and must not be running for political office for 12 months.

Jennifer Lopez

Following her divorce from hubby Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez was barely on the market when she started dating Casper Smart. After a few years together, the couple recently broke up but the choreographer and back up dancer won’t be writing a tell-all book about his time with La Lopez. “Jen has been around long enough to know that anyone she dates could possibly turn on her and choose to go to the press if the relationship sours,” a source told RadarOnline. “Casper had absolutely no qualms about signing the agreement, and has told Jen on multiple occasions that even if he didn’t work for her, he would have signed the contract. Jen loves him even more for that.” Guess that’s why we haven’t hear a peep since their split.

Britney Spears

Britney Spears became a star at a very young age and her parents have looked out for her ever since. When the “Oops, I Did It Again” singer had to check into a facility for treatment for a mental breakdown, her father was granted conservatorship over his very famous daughter. And when she started dating boyfriend David Lucado, the elder Spears had him undergo a background check and sign a confidentiality agreement.

Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman

The whole purpose of having someone sign a confidentiality agreement was to prevent embarrassing or personal details from emerging in the public. That was why Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman required all of their nannies sign one but that didn’t stop a former employee from talking. In 2006, celebrity nanny Suzanne Hansen revealed that the fair-skinned actress had little to do with raising her two adopted children with Tom, Conner and Isabella and after their divorce they stayed with their father.
