There is something about Drake. We can’t deny it.
Even being the day his much anticipated album, Thank Me Later, hits stores we still can’t figure out what his mass appeal is…but we have some guesses. Maybe it’s his confident cool under lyrical pressure. Could it be his GQ-esque looks? Perhaps it’s his stylist– always putting him in clean cut attire. Or maybe it’s all of those factors, coupled with the fact that he’s Canadian that sets him apart.
Along with Aubrey Graham, many other Canadians have crossed over to the states and managed to stay afloat among the sea of apple pie-eating Americans.
In homage to Canadian entertainers, we give you our Favorite Canadian Entertainers List:
Glenn Lewis
“Don’t You Forget It” was this Toronto-born singer’s first major LP. Currently he has a track on rapper, Rhymefest’s new album and performs to smaller circuits.
Alex Trebeck
The older this man gets, the sexier he looks. Don’t judge us, just turn on “Jeopardy” tonight.
Tamia
Her fifth album came out in 2009 and she’s been working with Kelly Price and Deborah Cox on “The Queen Project” more recently. She’s also the mother of two girls with NBA player, Grant Hill.
Melyssa Ford
Round here, we don’t believe in hating video vixens and at least this one has a college education.
Mike Myers
Who doesn’t love “Shrek”? Come on!
Deborah Cox
The mother of three lives with her husband in Miami and is working on “The Queen Project” with fellow R&B sweethearts, Kelly Price and Tamia.
Kardinal Offishall
Hip-hop heads may remember his song, “Dangerous,” with Akon a few years ago. The reggae infused rapper has an album due this fall.
Michael Buble
Listening to his voice puts us in a classy 1940’s jazz joint. Often called “Sinatra’s Heir” the GRAMMY Award-winning artist definitely holds his own ground.
Kim Cattrall
Known to may as the promiscuous Samantha Jones in “Sex and the City”, Cattrall has been in show business for years. Only in 2008 did she officially become a U.S. citizen.
Celine Dion
Y’all KNOW you cried at the end of “Titanic” to “My Heart Will Go On”! Look at her, with the ‘diva fan’ blowing, all glamorous. Doesn’t get more fab than Ms. Dion.
