George Lucas is the mastermind behind the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchise who has captivated every cosmic and archaeological nerd in the world. You know he got coins! After Disney bought Star Wars in 2012, the man’s net worth reportedly jumped to $7.3 billion. Whew. Standing alongside the richest celebrity of 2013 is Mellody Hobson. Hobson, who has dated Lucas since 2006, is a hotshot moneymaker as well; she’s the president of Ariel Investments, LLC,  a Chicago investment firm that manages over $9 billion in assets. Since then, the Norton name survived in Symantec products such as Norton Antivirus, Norton Personal Firewall, and Norton Internet Security. Though not as wealthy, Gwen Adams, a financier of West Indian descent, ain’t so bad herself as the former SVP of Wachovia Bank.  Adams now serves as a consultant for the UN Office for International Partnerships. Adams married Norton, reportedly worth $400 million, in 2007.

Gelila Assefa, an award-winning philanthropist, is an Ethiopian-born designer known for her couture handbags and gowns — and she caught the eye of world-renowned chef, Wolfgang Puck.

Puck, worth $75 million (almost five times the earnings of Paula Deen), put a ring on Assefa in 2005 and married her in 2007. Perhaps the Austrian-born cook won over the East African beauty with one of his mouth-watering cuisines — yum!

In the mid-70s, English singer-songwriter David Bowie reached the pinnacle of success in America with his hit single Fame Around the same time, 1976, Somali supermodel Iman landed her first modeling gig for Vogue. This helped her gain visibility among prominent designers including Yves Saint-Laurent, Donna Karen, and Versace.
