From the outside looking in, it appears that Columbus Short is experiencing one of the worst years of his life. He lost his job and his wife all in a matter of months—not to mention all of his legal issues. Yet somehow, the troubled actor is still able to smile, laugh and joke around. TMZ cameras recently caught up with him as he made his way out of Flappers Comedy Club in Burbank and he had quite a few jokes of his own.
“I’m doing stand-up,” he joked. “Started from the bottom, now we’re here…back at the bottom!”
When asked by his interviewer if any of his “Scandal” co-stars had his back when he got fired, he seemed a little bothered. But after a few seconds he began to make jokes about the way he was fired from the show.
“They sent me a SnapChat—a quick message. It was real fast. It came quick. I almost missed the message it went away so fast,” he joked. “It was like “Back 2 The Future” part two when they sent him a fax ‘Ehhh, you’re fired!'”
The interview closed with Columbus being asked if he thinks he’ll ever return to the show for a guest appearance; a question to which he sarcastically responded:
“Not after this interview.”
He did, however, reveal that he’s working on getting back into the music industry. Considering his shocking dismissal from “Scandal,” that’s probably a good idea.
