By now you should have heard the buzzword “millennial,” the descriptor used for Generation Y, typically between ages 18 and 34 years old. This demographic is entering the workforce and changing the business landscape, and grew up with the Internet and other technology and changing how we interact. Here are 10 signs you are a millennial woman.

Value higher education

According to the Pew Research Center, millennial women boast higher education compared to any other generation. Forty percent of women have some college experience with 20 percent advancing their education with four years of college or more. Millennials in particular are enrolling in two- or four-year programs at all time high. Women in particular are also outpacing men when it comes to both college enrollment and graduation.

Know how to cut back

The recession hit everyone impacting our wallets and spending habits. Even with millennials being hit the hardest, we still find a way to make ends meet. In fact, close to four out of 10 people admit to cutting back on non-essential expenses like alcohol and cigarettes. Over 20 percent are willing to cohabitate with friends or a relative in order to make sure they have enough.

Not interested in an executive position

This is an interesting one as millennial women appear to no longer be interested in top positions with only 15 percent wanting an executive position at a job. In fact, 90 percent of women surveyed believe females have to make more career sacrifices than men, and just aren’t unwilling to gain a top position at the expense of their personal life.

Influenced by social media to buy

It’s no surprise that the millennial generation is quite savvy with the internet and social media. But did you know it influences them to open their wallets? Pinterest in particular has seen the most success with 21 percent of millennials purchasing products in stores they once saw on this platform. “Pinterest is able to inspire purchase decision in the same way as traditional printed shopping catalog, but now, in the digital age, it acts as a crowdsourcing digital shopping catalog,” notes Jon Allen, contributor to the marketing platform, SweetiQ.
