It can be hard to sustain a relationship under good circumstances, but it’s even harder when your mate is behind bars. Not for these women who stayed with their men through incarceration, though. They decided jail/prison wasn’t a deal-breaker and stayed with their men while they were locked up.

Yandy

For well over a year Yandy Smith rode hard for her man, Mendecees Harris, when he was locked up on charges of drug-trafficking. The love story played out on the popular franchise Love and Hip Hop, and just recently Yandy dropped a solid $200,000 to bail Mendecees out of jail. Talk about ride or die.

Tiny

Tiny and T.I. married back in 2010. That same year T.I. served 11 months in federal prison for a U.S. federal weapons charge. T. I.’s release was highlighted on their popular reality show Tiny and T.I.: A Family Hustle. Previously, in 2009, T.I. served a year and a day for another weapons charge. Tiny never went anywhere.

Debra was married to Robert Downey Jr. during the time he was severely addiction to heroin and cocaine. In 1999, Downey Served one year of a three-year sentence at the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison. The couple divorced in 2004.

Adrienne Rodriguez

Rodriguez married superstar James Brown in 1984, four years before he was sentenced to six years for leading cops on a high speed car chase, carrying an unlicensed pistol, assaulting a police officer, and other driving and drugs chargers. His six year sentence was cut down to three years.

Kandy Johnson

Ron Isley and Kandy Johnson married in 2005.  The year before, Isley was sentenced to three years and a one month for tax evasion. Isley was released from prison in 2010. Kandy is 35 years younger than older jail bird.

Henrietta King

Henrietta married controversial Don King in 1959. In 1966, Don King served three and a half years for stomping his employee, Sam Garrett, to death. King’s crime was later pardoned in 1983.

Winnie Mandela

Winnie Mandela married anti-apartheid revolutionary Nelson Mandela in 1958.  Nelson and Wendy were married for 38 years and for 27 years of those Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for sabotage and conspiracy to violently overthrow the government.
