While it may not seem like Lil Boosie, falls in line with our target audience, there are folks, particularly black women, who ride for Boosie hard core. My friend is one of those people. Months before he was released, she talked about hosting a prayer circle for the once incarcerated rapper. And when it was announced that he was being set free for real this time, she made this image her profile picture:

Even though we come from the Midwest, far from Louisiana, my girl is committed, truly down for the cause. And she’s not the only one. I was speaking to a woman who works as an anchor for the Baton Rouge, CBS affiliate and she said when they broke the news of his release, it quickly became the best performing story of the past three years. She said people would call the station asking if it were true and then hang up screaming in a frenzy once it had been confirmed. People are excited. And we’re here to give the people, even though they’re on the fringes, what they want. And since was the first time we’ve heard from Boosie since his release, we’re detailing the best moments from the #BoosieSpeaks press conference.

These chairs

The stage was relatively simple. So simple, we can’t even say it was all that well lit. But these chairs right here? Fit for royalty. Though Angela Yee was seated in the one on the right from the beginning of the conference, the left one remained open as rappers like Young Jeezy and Bun B spoke about their friend’s release. It was Webbie who broke the rules and sat in the chair before the “kang” came out.

His Kids

There were a gang of rumors that reported Boosie would be making club appearances immediately after his release. Umm… I don’t know about you all but after being in a box for five years, the last place I would want to be would be another hot, sweaty box. No ma’am. And since Boosie has a “football team” of kids (7 to be exact), we love the fact that his first stop was to visit them. Thank God because his daughter, who starred in the Instagram video gone viral, embedded below, would have been pissed if she had to wait for too much longer. Her language is a bit strong so if you’re in mixed company or at work, you might want to save this for later.

The world done changed

And speaking of his young daughter, Angela Yee asked him if he was surprised to see that her video had done so well. He said he was because he’d never heard of Instagram. That comment was so profound. One of the most tripped up things about going to jail is the fact that though you’re in that place, the world keeps on spinning. You end up missing huge personal but also significant cultural moments as well if you’re in there for too long.
