Bad-Boy-Baller Malik Wright is well known for his reckless ways—but rehab—the most avid “The Game” fan’s jaw dropped when that news broke. However, if you were watching closely, you may have noticed that Malik has been clutching his bottle of prescription pills rather tightly since the season began and the bottle poppin’, groupies, and outbursts have reached a new high. Will Malik Wright continue on his downward spiral or could he be a ‘Derwin Davis’ in the making now that he is headed to rehab—only time will tell and I’ll be watching. Let’s recap Malik’s road to rock bottom in Episode 4:
Malik Makes Bail
After his infamous police officer push in Episode 3, Malik is released from jail on bail. But he doesn’t get such a warm welcome after his release. The blood thirsty media is ready for an exclusive and former teammate and “Benched” anchor Jason Pitts is the leader of the pack. The self-serving Jason Pitts’ opportunistic ways are really obnoxious the season. By the way, I miss Kelly…do you?
Mama Mack or Tasha Mack Management?
It seems like Malik hints at some past demons when mama Mack tries to console him and lend some advice. He’s clearly still not over the fact that she represents Derwin and he pushes her away—but Lord knows he needs her right now. It seems like Tasha is sort of feed up with Malik too. She plays both sides of the fence as Derwin’s discerning manager and Malik’s caring mother. Tasha gets a little schizo for a moment. Emotional walls Tasha, emotional walls.
The Contractual Clause…???
It turns out that Malik’s friend-with-benefits has more than one benefit. Parker, the wife of the Sabers’ owner and Malik’s jump-off, warns him about the Sabers’ plan to bury him because of a loophole in his contract unless he cleans up his act. Parker also drops the major A-Bomb—revealing that the bottle and pill poppin’ Malik is “addicted.”
Malik Speaks His Piece, Sort of…
After finally agreeing to a “Benched” exclusive with Jason Pitts to “clear is name,” Malik does more harm than good—as usual. But as unbelievable as it was, Jason actual protects Malik by keeping the on-air outburst under wraps rather than airing it. Maybe Jason does have a heart, nah…
Decisions, Decisions Derwin
Melanie and Tasha advise Derwin to keep far away from Malik so that he doesn’t taint his good boy image. But Derwin wouldn’t be the good guy that he is if he didn’t at least consider having Malik’s back regardless. However, mama Mack, being the ultimate mom and manager is front-row-center when Malik announces that he is entering rehab at a press conference. I don’t know what made Malik think that he could ever do it without his mother. He’s so misguided without her…
