With the New Year comes new trends and that daring and sometimes dreadful list of fashion do’s and don’ts. Luckily the seasons don’t change with the New Year so many of the clothes we rocked the previous year can be worn in the New Year. Still, with each year new trends emerge. This year our pockets are lucky that some of these trends are sticking around.
Trend reports have shown us that 2011 is full of bold, eclectic, chic, fashion. Some trends you may love others you’ll wonder how they’re withstanding within the fashion world. Still, it’s fashion and based on your style, you decide if and how you want to rock ‘em.
1. Mixed Prints
There really is no rule of thumb for this trend, simply mix and match prints. It’s fun and eclectic. Yes, it can easily cross the line from fashionable to tacky if not careful; but at least give it a try.
Flirty skirts embellished with cute prints paired with blazers is an easy way to transition into this look. Or choosing either almost identical prints as larger and smaller floral patterns of select the various designs from different categories.
2. Combat Boots
The military look is one that is withstanding various seasons. These boots can be dressed up or down and surprisingly offer a feminine edge to your ensemble.
3. Military Jackets
Still chic with an edge, military jackets have become a designers’ favorite and are still around in 2011. However, this season military means chic, fashion designers choosing khaki and gray in order to reflect the special particularity of the army style.
4. High-Waisted Pants
Fashion trends are like a spinning wheel; well guess what’s back! 70’s inspired fashion. Highwaist pants are back and are usually wide-legged for that extra 70’s flair.
5. Maxi Dresses
This trend was surprisingly in the cool months as fashionistas layered their maxi dresses with blazers and scarves. This style crept out of 2010 and has made its way into 2011. An item normally worn in warmer months is being rocked in Fall and Winter.
6. Bold Colors
An all neutral look full of soft earth tones is nice and chic, but 2011 is all about bold colors. From hot reds to bold purples, make sure your wardrobe is full of color!
7. Thigh High Boots
Once limited to..let’s just say, exotic careers, this look has made its way into many fashionistas’ closets. Hot and daring but still somewhat chic (when worn properly), thigh-high boots have been a hot item for the last couple of years and aren’t going anywhere in 2011. If you don’t own a pair, you should.
8. Big, Bold Accessories
What’ not to love about this accessories trend? We all know that accessories can be the one thing that can turn something boring into a stylish ensemble. This year subtle accessories are taking a backseat for big, bold bangles, heavily accented necklaces and other accessories. Even bags are bigger and bolder.
