He is probably best known for laying down the law as an assistant district attorney on “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” but at home he’s husband to actress Angela Bassett. The couple first met back in 1980 but it took 17 years before Bassett would walk down the aisle towards him. Married in 1997, the couple has a set of twins that was born via surrogate in 2006. The couple’s touching love story is the basis for the 2009 book Friends: A Love Story, which focuses on their friendship that eventually led to marriage.
