Countdown to Cuteness

In mere hours, the countdown will begin as we embrace the year 2011. For fabulous Mesdames, there is also another countdown circulating through our heads, as we make plans to be even bolder and fiercer in the upcoming year. Yes, we have high hopes of achieving phenomenal things; but we also have hopes of looking even more phenomenal in the while achieving them.
For some this means switching up a ‘plain jane’ wardrobe to one that even the Kardashians would envy. For others it means switching up a boring hairstyle to something more vibrant and fierce.
Whatever your plans to slightly upgrade your look, don’t forget these few tips as you countdown your way to cuteness!
1. Allow Yourself To Experiment (It’s Okay, You Can Take Baby Steps)
Allow yourself to step out of your comfort zone and flaunt a style that you’ve always admired but were too afraid to try. Remember the idea is to be even bolder and fiercer in the New Year. If your style is more conservative but you’ve wanted to rock attire that’s a little more risqué, do it; of course in moderation.
2. Organize Your Cuteness
There is nothing worse than attempting to be bold and fierce while clutter surrounds you. Yes, you’d love to look fly everyday but you can’t seem to find your ‘fly’ stuff because of your disorganization. Just as you organize your work, make plans to organize your wardrobe, make-up, and accessories. It’s always easier to be cuter when you actually know where to find the things that make you look cuter.
3. Out With The Old, In With The New
This is also part of your organization. Get rid of old things that are in the way or even provide you with a safe haven when you want to resort to an off day. Of course we all need pieces to have on our casual and comfy days; but that old sweater covered in lint can be trashed. You shouldn’t even want the option to mistakenly rock it in the New Year.
4. Learn From The Past Style Mishaps
How many times have we looked at old pictures and thought “what was I thinking?’. The eye-shadow that shouldn’t have been worn, the jeans that crossed the line from fitted to raunchy, or the dress that didn’t do our fabulous shapes any justice, are all things to look for as we learn from our past style mishaps.
5. Play Dress Up
If you don’t know what you like, go to your favorite stores and play dress up. If you dread shopping, this will be one of the most antagonizing tasks you’ll ever experience but at least you’ll know immediately what you like, how it fits, and if it’s affordable.
6. The Extra Umph
Add lots of accessories and make-up to your attire. Make-up and accessories allow you to change your look quickly and affordably. Go to make-up counters to assist you in finding different shades of make-up that fit you. Attempt to accumulate as many accessories as possible. The right accessories can change a boring ensemble into a fashion statement.
7. Own Your Look
Find a look that works for you and rock it well. Whatever motivation you need, find it! There is nothing worse than seeing someone look uncomfortable in what they’re wearing. If you’ve always wanted to try to incorporate patterns or other funky trends in your wardrobe, but feel like you’ve escaped from the zoo while wearing it…resort back to #1 and allow yourself to take baby steps.
8. Don’t Forget The Inside
While you countdown to cuteness on the outside, make sure that you don’t forget to work on your confidence and inner spirit. Your style really is a reflection of you. If you’re all messed up on the inside, looking cute on the outside doesn’t feel as fabulous.
