As we begin a new year faced with new opportunities and challenges, it can be both exciting and frightening. Especially, if we didn’t accomplish what we set out to do in 2010, our hopes for 2011 may not be as assuring.

Still, each year, and even each day, is a chance for you to start fresh with an open mind and heart. Faith allows us to be hopeful for those things in which we cannot see. With this in mind, this season ensure that your faith is at an all time high.

Equip yourself with scriptures and prayers to guide you through your best and worst times.

4) For Forgiveness

“…For if you forgive people their trespasses [their reckless and willful sins, leaving them, letting them go, and giving up resentment], your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their trespasses [their reckless and willful sins, leaving them, letting them go, and giving up resentment], neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses…”

— Matthew 6: 13-14

6) The Importance of Giving

“…Give, and [gifts] will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will they pour into [the pouch formed by] the bosom [of your robe and used as a bag]. For with the measure you deal out [with the measure you use when you confer benefits on others], it will be measured back to you…”
–Luke 6: 38

7) Fulfilling Your Purpose

“…Let your eyes look right on [with fixed purpose], and let your gaze be straight before you. Consider well the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established and ordered aright. Turn not aside to the right hand or to the left; remove your foot from evil…”
–Proverbs 4: 25-27

8) To Gain Wisdom

“…If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him. Only it must be in faith that he asks with no wavering (no hesitating, no doubting)…”

— James 1: 5-6a

9) Life’s Distractions

“…Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God…”

— Hebrews 12: 2
