Are you single and hate the holidays because it’s a reminder of your relationship status? Well snap out of it! Sure, it’s amazing to be in a great relationship, but you shouldn’t miss out on the joy of this holiday season because you’re stressing over not having a significant other.

Have you heard the expression “Single people want to be married, and married people want to be single?” That’s because being single can be just as much as fun as being in a relationship, sometimes even more fun. And being single around the holidays gives you the great opportunity to totally indulge in yourself, friends, and family.

So, if you’re single, stop sulking and start planning to make this one of your best and most memorable holidays.  Here are a few fabulous ways for you to enjoy the holidays!

Girls’ Spa Day

Considering how hard you work during the rest of the year, the holiday season is definitely a time to pamper yourself. And who doesn’t like massages and pedicures? This is the perfect time to plan an all girls’ spa day. And you can even keep the Zen vibe going into the night by having an all girls sleepover afterwards.

Take a trip

Are you one of those people that talks about taking a trip “one day.” Are your girlfriends the same way? Maybe you’ve wanted to go to Vegas, take a cruise to the Bahamas, or go skiing. Well, now’s the time to stop taking about it and be about it. Gather your girls, plan the trip, pack your bags, and go. And don’t forget to take lots of pictures!

Singles holiday party

If you and other single friends aren’t looking forward to attending holiday parties because you’ll be surrounded by too many coupled-up folks, you can always plan your own Singles Holiday Party. Gather some good friends for some good food, good music, and good times. And there’s only one rule: no one’s allowed to talk about relationships.

Volunteer

Put a smile on your face by putting a smile on someone else’s. With so many things to be thankful for, part of the holidays should also be about helping those less fortunate. So this holiday season, take the time to put the focus on others by volunteering at your local shelter, soup kitchen, or church.

Free concerts/shows/events

I live in one of the coolest cities in the US- Washington, DC. And there’s never a shortage of fun, free social and cultural events. I’m into the arts, and make it my mission indulge in free events year round. And if you live in a major metropolitan area like me, I’m positive you can find tons of fun and free things to get into this holiday season.

Do something you’ve wanted to do

Remember that random list of things you’ve wanted to do all year but didn’t have the time? You’ve wanted to read that book, join that art class, go Salsa dancing, redecorate your apartment, etc.  Whatever it is, take this opportunity to do something you’ve always wanted to do but couldn’t because you had the obligations or distractions of a relationship.

Wine tasting party

Party plus wine equals endless fun. So plan a wine tasting party with some friends. It’s a great way to socialize with friends, enjoy some of your wine favorites, and even try some new ones. I suggest Muscato Rubino’s Sweet California Red- delicious!

Movie night

This is the perfect time for you to catch up on all those movies that you’ve wanted to see.  Whether it’s solo or with group of friends, pop tons of buttery popcorn, hit up your local Red Box (or theater) and have a movie marathon.
