Government Banning Smoking in Your Own Home?
The Detroit Housing Commission may soon ban smoking in its 4,000 public housing units, which include high-rise apartments and single-family homes. If passed, the ban would be the 226th housing authority in the country to pass such a ban and the 50th in the state of Michigan according to the Detroit Free Press.
Lots of cities have now banned smoking in public places and some hotels are completely smoke-free due to concerns of second-hand smoke. What do you think about a government agency banning smoking in people’s homes?
Since it is public housing, do you think the residents should just comply or do you see it as infringing on their rights?
