Memorable times and fashion you might want to forget are both big features of the 1990s.  Fashion trends seem to come back around every 20 years, so some of those ’90s fads have found their way back into our closets while others (thankfully) will stay where they belong– in the ’90s!

Grow nostalgic over these fashion trends we (sorta sometimes) miss from the 1990s:

2. Tattoos and Body Piercings

One too many had a tattoo, ear, nose or navel piercing as the latest accessory. As if they were the single most important item on the planet, family or friends couldn’t refrain from impaling or branding themselves to be like their favorite celebrities during the ’90s.

4. Jellies

Jellies came into fashion in the 1980s, but they stuck around in the ’90s too. Did you own a pair? Ah..when the summer months approached, the jelly shoes became must-haves because they were comfortable and felt good our feet.  Actually, jellies are still around. You might have some in your closet right now.

8. Spandex tights

They’re baaaaack! Squeezing into a pair of spandex were only half the battle in the ’90s. It showed off our legs that garnered more attention than regular fitted tights because of its stylish or sequined material. Plus, it was commonly worn with over-sized shirts or pleated v-necks to bring flair to our ensemble!

9. Combat boots (aka Jodeci boots)

Jodeci’s “Forever My Lady” video unleashed a whole decade of screaming/wailing from male singers and it also introduced a lot of young black people to the coolness of combat boots.  The “fancy” girls would wear multiple pairs of socks too in different colors. Where were our parents?
