He was Motown’s beloved songwriter and Miracles frontman, the other was one of Motown’s best and brightest stars and Tammi Terrell’s other half on records. Smokey Robinson and Marvin Gaye were two of Motown’s biggest acts and with their talent and hits, they were the object of so many young womens’ affections around the country. Just ask my mom! She loved her some Smokey Robinson! Maybe it was the light eyes of Smokey, the dashing good looks of Marvin, and the pull both men had at Motown (plus, any man that can sing “Crusin'” make the “Star Spangled Banner” alluring is a man every woman loves), whatever it was, in their day, both men had it going on. Both men had a fascination with a good perm as you can see. And they also had boyish good looks and lovable smiles.

And just in case you didn’t believe me when I said they took their relaxers seriously, behold evidence one (above) and two (below)…

 And hairy chest and all, everything about Marvin Gaye was so cool and cute, and Smokey was clearly the eye candy in the Miracles…(no offense to Claudette Rogers though).

And both men were great performers, bringing out fans all over the globe. Robinson to this day still tears up the stage with his ever-changing hair.

So young and so cool. Even when Smokey Robinson went natural, he was still getting the attention of all the ladies.

And both men were widely loved and appreciated by their children, fans and friends.

And they aged pretty gracefully, right? Even though we can tell that Robinson did a little work to himself later in life (Botox maybe?)

On top of having great style, as was previously noted, they had some very adorable smiles as well.

In the end, we know that sadly, Gaye’s life was taken tragically at the age of 44. However, his legacy still remains, along with his amazing body of work. As for Smokey Robinson, hair in twists and eyes still as bright and beautiful as ever, he’s still performing, receiving stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (with the Miracles), receiving Kennedy Center Honors, and being busy still looking good. They did some great things, and looked even better while doing them. Don’t you agree?
