Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton may have been Hollywood royalty, but their scandalous love affair, two marriages and two divorces were nothing more than pure drama at its most basic. The two met in 1953 while both were still married to other people – Burton to his first wife and Taylor to her third husband. Their love would not grow hot until the 1961 Cleopatra film set they reunited on, and would not fizzle out for nearly two decades of joint movie roles, glamorous jet setting, excessive drinking, and disastrous fighting.
