It seems these days that women are heading to the natural side of life, but there are some of us that still enjoy the sheen of a relaxer or the “creamy crack,” as some would call it, on our tresses. Solange Knowles, Chrisette Michele, Corinne Bailey Rae and others are singing kinky praises, leaving hair authorities catering to those styles only. Going natural is great, but we think there are great styles out there for women who have relaxed hair. A new fall season is here, style variety is dwindling, but don’t freak out. We have your back (or should we say, you hair?) when it comes to the hottest styles this season.
1. Box and Bang-It Out (Mary J. Blige/ Estelle)
Ironically, a boyish cut has the power to polish and refine your image. Just ask Estelle or Mary J. Blige. This comes off overtly Hot and if your hair tends to fair on the limp side, this style will give you the volume you desire.
2. Streaked and Sleek (Kelly Rowland)
Ms. Kelly took her already fab look up a few notches when she debuted her new whispy streaks during Fashion Week. Streaks are fun as long as they are kept to a minimum. Too many can make your hair a mess and not to mention a recipe for breakage. Always remember to keep the hair highly moisturized when playing around with color.
3. Long & Sleek – (Angela Simmons)
While enjoying the summer heat some of you might have given in to the frizz and kept a curly mane a la Beyonce. This season we challenge you to sleek it out. Angela Simmons presents a prime style to try.
4. Long Loose Waves (Ciara)
Loose waves evoke confidence and subtle Hot appeal. We love how Ciara wears the looks with middle part allowing the waves to cascade and frame the face. Wear this look once in a blue for a sultry night out. (Too much curling can cause breakage).
